That comment makes you look just plain stupid, a distro like Ubuntu will never compete with Gentoo on 64 bit architecture. It's not possible and you really don't know what you're talking about if you claim otherwise, and as far as it being dead, it's just because the users keep their yaps shut more than Ubuntu children.
